| HOUSER Ales Michalek 8/6/2006 MIOU MIOU: La La Grande Finale (Piper Records) On their new album, „ La La Grande Finale,“ the group Miou Miou proves that the word „pop“ need not be pronounced with disdain. They've raised this musical genre to the level of Art, along French lines. The French language manages to bring with it associations of refined grandeur. This effect is seen even in MM's music – dreamy and sublime. Especially when Karolina Dytrtova sings for us in her ethereal voice. The pleasant accord of their lyrics' content with the form of Karolina's interpretation has a very harmonic effect. It doesn't matter that you're not fluent in Edith Piaf's native tongue – understanding the feeling works just fine. MM's piano/guitar sound – complemented by flute, trumpet, vibraphone, accordion and strings – can't leave anyone in doubt about which band goes. I believe the compelling atmosphere of this group will bewitch you the same as it has me. C´est magnifique! Ales Michalek
